It is designed to promote patient safety by eliminating inadvertent injection into the arterial line, which can lead to serious consequences and complications, and reducing the potential for infection. The NIC is connected to the sampling port of an arterial line, through which blood gas samples can be collected.

Application

Using a fresh syringe flush via transducer until clear fluid is observed. Ensure the syringe does not fill completely.
